Most Instagrammable Spots in Vienna, Austria
If I could live in Vienna, I would. This city is elegant, stunning, and breathtaking- I only spent a few days here, but I’d come back in a heartbeat to explore for a few more months. This is not the most comprehensive list of the most beautiful spots in Vienna (there’s too many), but this does include my most favorite and free ones.
Here are the Most Instagrammable Spots in Vienna, Austria
I’ve also created a map with EXACTLY where to I took these photographs at the end. These pins come directly from the GPS marker on my photos.
Karlskirche (St. Charles's Church)
Karlskirche is a Baroque church located on the south side of Karlsplatz. It’s one of the biggest churches in Vienna, and according to Atlas Obscura, architecturally a mix of ancient Greek and Roman elements with Byzantine, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Come on a good day without wind, and you’ll be able to capture a gorgeous reflection of Karlskirche reflected in the pool. I did not come on one of those days, but the photos are still stunning!

Graben
The Graben is a shopping street in Vienna with stunning architecture and sculptures at every street. It’s hard to pick one spot in the Graben to feature, but this is one of the most stunning. Pictured here is Pestsäule (Plague Column), which was built to commemorate victims of the plague.
Address: Graben 28, 1010 Wien, Austria
Admission: Free
Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera House)
The Vienna State Opera House is beautiful both inside and out. I found a ledge across the street that I thought offered a beautiful frame.
Come early morning to avoid the crowds, or sunset for the stunning colors.
Address: Opernring 2, 1010 Wien, Austria
Admission (Outside): Free
Peterskirche (St. Peter's Church)
Peterskirche is pretty close to Pestsäule, because Inner Vienna is just one beautiful photo opportunity after another. I stood here in the 95 degree sun for about twenty minutes waiting for horse carriages to pass by so that I can get that perfect shot. Time well spent (although my poor, kind, super patient friend may disagree.)
Address: Peterspl. 1, 1010 Wien, Austria
Admission (Outside): Free
The Hofburg
This is where the President of Austria lives, and boy is it a palace fit for a president. This is also in Inner Vienna, and makes for a gorgeous backdrop with the nearby streets.
Address: Michaelerkuppel, 1010 Wien, Austria
Admission (Outside): Free
Belvedere Palace
I didn’t actually go inside the palace because our time was limited and there was a fee to go inside, but the palace grounds are expansive, lovely and free.
Address: Prinz Eugen-Straße 27, 1030 Wien, Austria
Admission (Grounds): Free
Hundertwasser House
This is without a doubt one of the most interesting houses in the world. The blocky design and asymmetrical symmetry is best seen in person, and a lot of fun to photograph! The Hundertwasser House was a bit harder to find than I thought— I thought there would be signs pointing to such a famous place, but it hides in plain sight. To find it, just follow directions on Google Maps.
Address: Kegelgasse 36-38, 1030 Wien, Austria
Admission: Free
Kunst Haus Wien
Friedensreich Hundertwasser designed more than just one building in Vienna! Within walking distance of the Hundertwasser House lies Kunst Haus Wien, which is museum that also brings to life his whimsical, unique design.
Address: Untere Weißgerberstraße 13, 1030 Wien, Austria
Admission: Free
Schönbrunn Palace
Schönbrunn Palace is a bit of a trek from the center of Vienna, but it is so well worth the trip. The grounds and gardens are magnificent, and the tour was informative and packed with fascinating Vienna history!
Address: Schönbrunner Schloßstraße 47, 1130 Wien, Austria
Admission: $$
