Most Instagrammable Spots in San Francisco

San Francisco isn’t very big, but there are more beautiful spots here to photograph than most U.S. cities. Here are some of my favorites— most of these are outdoors that you can social distantly visit in 2020.

This list only covers the city of San Francisco. For more of my favorite Instagrammable spots in the Bay Area, check out my other posts on the North Bay and South Bay.

As a Bay Area native, I’ve played tour guide for many out-of-state friends around San Francisco and these locations are consistently their favorite spots. Hope you enjoy!

I’ve also created a map with EXACTLY where to I took these photographs at the end. These pins come directly from the GPS marker on my photos.

Sutro Baths

This used to be a large swimming pool complex…. but then it got burned down and what we see here are now ruins. There’s a lot of beautiful and interesting geometric shapes to experiment with for photography here!

Address: 1004 Point Lobos Ave, San Francisco, CA 94121

Admission: Free

Land’s End Lookout

Gorgeous place to catch the sunset! For maze lovers, there’s also a labyrinth you can try to solve here. As my friends wait for me to take the same photo of these cliffs every time, they entertain themselves by trying to solve the rock labyrinth here.

Address: 680 Point Lobos Ave, San Francisco, CA 94121

Admission: Free

Marshall’s Beach

This is, in my opinion, the best place to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge within city limits of San Francisco.

Fort Point

If you’ve ever wanted to walk the Golden Gate Bridge, this is where you would start. But I think photographing the bridge from here is much more fun.

Map Coordinates: 37°48'29.9"N 122°28'35.1"W

Admission: Free

Palace of Fine Arts

I have never been to the Palace of Fine Arts without seeing at least three engagement, wedding, or quinceanera photoshoots here. That’s how beautiful it is. This place is a must-see for all San Francisco visitors.

Address: 3601 Lyon St, San Francisco, CA 94123

Admission: Free

Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman’s Wharf gives a completely different vibe from the rest of San Francisco. It’s a great place to photograph #sealife. My favorite places to photograph within Fisherman’s Wharf are Hyde Street Pier & Pier 39.

Address: 2905 Hyde St, San Francisco, CA 94109

Admission: Free

Pier 7

This spot is easy to overlook, but Pier 7 offers a gorgeous backdrop featuring the Transamerica Pyramid and easily one of the most Instagrammable spots in San Francisco.

Address: 7 The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94111

Admission: Free
